Brandon Browner: Former Pro Bowl CB arrested for felony in Los Angeles

Sept. 13 (UPI) — Super Bowl XLIX winner Brandon Browner was arrested and charged with a felony on Monday in Los Angeles.

Browner was arrested by the La Verne Police Department at about 8:29 p.m. He was booked into jail at about 9:40 p.m. He had a total bail about of $ 50,000.

A La Verne Police Department spokesperson confirmed that he was charged with suspicion of making criminal threats and later “bonded out” of jail.

Browner, 33, was also arrested on May 25 and charged with a misdemeanor.

The former Pro Bowl defender played his first three seasons for the Seattle Seahawks before joining the New England Patriots in 2014. He won a Super Bowl that season when the Patriots defeated the Seahawks 28-24.

Browner signed with the New Orleans Saints during the 2015 offseason on a three-year, $ 15 million contract. He was released in March of 2016. Browner signed with the Seahawks in May of 2016 but was released in August of 2016.

A possible court date for Browner was not disclosed.

Browner ranked as Pro Football Focus’ worst cornerback in 2015 and set the NFL record for penalties in a season that year. He participated in the new Spring League in April.

The five-year veteran was born in Sylmar, Calif. and played collegiately at Oregon State. Browner had an opportunity at back-to-back Super Bowl appearances, but he was suspended for the Seahawks’ Super Bowl XLVIII win against the Denver Broncos.
