Bruno Fernandes to Manchester United: Transfer latest as deal COLLAPSES with Red Devils unwilling to match Sporting’s asking price

Manchester United have been dealt a huge blow with Bruno Fernandes’ proposed transfer to Old Trafford OFF.

This is according to the latest reports which claim the deal has collapsed heading into the final week of the transfer window because United will not match Sporting’s asking price for their star midfielder.

Sporting are also unwilling to lower their £68million valuation and have rejected an offer from the Red Devils worth £42.5m up front with a further £8.5m in add-ons.

The Sun say Joel Glazer, the Man United co-chairman who signs off on transfers, is not keen on the structure of the deal and simply believes Fernandes is NOT worth the asking price.

Fernandes was expected to have played his final game for Sporting earlier this week, when they lost to Braga in the Taca da Liga.

However, he will now feature for the Lisbon outfit for the remainder of the season unless United renew their interest in the final week of the transfer window.

The Times report the player is annoyed with the conduct of both clubs during negotiations and wants to seal his transfer to United as soon as possible.

Regardless of Fernandes leaving this month or not, he will definitely depart Sporting at the end of the season.

Super-agent Jorge Mendes, who represents the 25-year-old midfielder, confirmed ‘something will happen’ regarding his client – he just doesn’t know when.

“I don’t know [if the transfer will go through],” said Mendes. “If he doesn’t leave now, he will leave for sure in the summer because Sporting have already spoken with other clubs.

“Something will happen but I am not sure if now or at the end of the season.”
