Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has responded to a punter who called him out for missing a penalty in Fulham’s shock FA Cup defeat by Oldham.

Premier League relegation battlers Fulham were dumped out the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon as Callum Lang scored an 88th minute winner for the League Two side.

Lang’s goal completed a remarkable comeback for Oldham, who had fought back from a goal down with Sam Surridge cancelling out Denis Odoi’s 52nd minute opener.

Oldham did ride their luck at times, however, and when the hosts were awarded a penalty with just six minutes remaining it appeared to be game over.

But Mitrovic stepped up and saw his spot kick saved by Daniel Iversen, with Lang going on to find the back of the net four minutes later to claim Oldham’s shock victory.

Following the match, Mitrovic was called out on Instagram by user jamieblyth10, who missed out on the chance to win £855 due to the Serbia international’s missed penalty.

The rest of his accumulator came in, but Fulham’s defeat ruled the bet slip incorrect and the unlucky punter missed out on some serious winnings.

Mitrovic actually responded to being called out, first appearing to misunderstand the original post and writing ‘no problem mate’.

When jamieblyth10 clarified his post, Mitrovic hit back with ‘yes I know’ and a thumbs up emoji – appearing to mock the unlucky punter.

Among the other comments to the original post, there were calls for Mitrovic to pay the unlucky punter as he was the player who missed the penalty.

There are no guarantees Fulham would have won even if Mitrovic did score from the spot, but it is expected they would have as the Cottagers would have been leading their League Two opponents 2-1 with about five minutes of normal time remaining.
