‘Insanely talented’ rapper dies ‘after suffering seizure at airport’

US rapper Juice Wrld has died after reportedly suffering a seizure at an airport in Chicago.

The 21-year-old star fell ill at the city’s Midway airport on Sunday morning following a flight from California, TMZ first reported.

He was conscious when paramedics arrived and was taken to hospital, the entertainment news website said, but died a short time later.

Police confirmed a 21-year-old man suffered a “medical emergency” at the airport at about 2am local time (8am in the UK) after getting off a private jet.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office has been notified of the death.

Paying tribute, British music star DJ Semtex tweeted: “This is hard to believe. He was mad cool, insanely talented, and just getting started. Gone way too soon.

“He lives on through his music. Rest in peace Juice Wrld.”

Real name Jarad Anthony Higgins, Juice Wrld was a rising star whose biggest hit, Lucid Dreams, made it to number two on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2018, and 10 on the UK chart.

The rapper won the top new artist prize at the Billboard Music awards this year, beating Dua Lipa and others.

He had played shows in Australia at the end of November and was due to perform in LA on 14 December.

The star celebrated his 21st birthday last week, telling his eight million Instagram followers he would be “celebrating all week”.

According to TMZ, witnesses said he suffered a seizure while walking through the airport after his plane landed.

Law enforcement sources said he was bleeding from the mouth when paramedics arrived, it reported.

No cause of death has been given.

Juice Wrld’s track Legends hauntingly predicts the rapper’s future, with the lyrics including: “What’s the 27 Club?
We ain’t making it past 21″.
