The Premier League clubs look set to miss out on the highly-rated Portuguese international
Benfica have confirmed they are considering a £112.9million bid from Atletico Madrid for Joao Felix.
The Portuguese forward is being chased by several top clubs across Europe, including Manchester United and City, but Atletico look set to win the race for his signature.
Atleti’s offer is actually above the 19-year-old’s £107.5million release clause, though they made an increased bid as they’re keen on paying the fee in instalments rather than as a lump sum.
“Atletico Madrid submitted a proposal for the acquisition of [Felix] for a total amount of 126,000,000 euros which is being analysed,” Benfica announced in a statement to the Portuguese stock market.
Atletico are expected to receive £107million for Antoine Griezmann when the forward eventually seals a move to Barcelona.
