Manchester United have problems throughout their entire squad according to journalist Martin Lipton, who was scathing in his assessment of the Red Devils.
Joining talkSPORT the day after United’s embarrassing 2-0 home defeat by Burnley, Lipton ripped apart Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side from top to bottom.
Chris Wood and Jay Rodriguez scored for the Clarets in their first win at Old Trafford in 58 years, leaving the Red Devils six points off the top four and with a worse record after 24 games than in ANY OTHER Premier League season since the inaugural 1992/93 campaign.
Chants of ‘stand up if you hate Glazers‘ rang around the Theatre of Dreams as United slumped to their embarrassing defeat, and it is clear Solskjaer is, by supporters, being largely absolved of the majority of the blame for this woeful season.
The Glazers, widely-hated owners, and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward are the real targets of criticism, and the latter was not at Old Trafford last night to watch Burnley’s victory.
Woodward has been in charge of United’s recruitment since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, and he’s been blasted for refusing to bring in a director of football who can solve the club’s numerous on-pitch issues.
This has resulted in widely mismatched recruitment – which has thus resulted in a horrifically imbalanced, and woefully thin, squad.
A squad which was on Thursday slammed by Lipton on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.
“The goalkeeper has stopped making the saves he used to make,” said Lipton. “He is becoming just an ordinary goalkeeper now.

“You’ve got a centre-half [Harry Maguire] who is playing through pain – he doesn’t look 100 per cent fit – and he’s got no faith in the men around him.
“The right-back [Aaron Wan-Bissaka] has done well, but he is a defensive right-back and not an attacking right-back.
“The midfield is a disaster zone.
“Without [Marcus] Rashford they don’t appear to have a cutting edge.
“From top to bottom, the team is a mess. That is due to recruitment over a number of years.”
