May 24 (UPI) — Raytheon has been awarded a contract by the Defense Department for systems sustainment of identification friend or foe systems.
The deal, from the Air Force Sustainment Center, is valued at $ 7.2 million and enables Raytheon to provide services and hardware in support of APX 114 and APX 119 systems, the Pentagon said.
The APX 114 and APX 119 systems are Identification Friend or Foe systems, which are designed for command and control and enable both military and civilian air traffic control systems to identify aircraft, vehicles or forces as friendly or foe to determine their bearing and range.
Work on the contract will occur in California and is expected to be complete in June 2020.
No funds will be obligated to Raytheon at time of award, the Pentagon said.
