Sinead O’Connor recently stunned the world when she revealed she had converted to Islam.
The Nothing Compares to You singer – who was previously Catholic – announced the news to her 19.3k followers with a quote which read: “I seek refuge in Allah from being among the ignorant.”
Since revealing she had converted to Islam, Sinead also revealed she had changed her name to Shuhada’ Davitt.
Shuhada’ means “martyrs” or “witnesses” in Arabic.
The 51-year-old has been flooding her page with pictures she has created of different parts of the scripture, as well as sharing a video of her singing the Azan (Muslim call to prayer).
But Sinead stunned yesterday when she hit out at white people on social media.
Tweeting to her 40k followers, Sinead wrote: “I’m terribly sorry. What I’m about to say is something so racist I never thought my soul could feel it.
“But truly I never wanna spend time with white people again (if that’s what non-Muslims are called).
“Not for one moment, for any reason. They are disgusting.”
Sinead was met with a barrage of criticism for her angry post.
One follower quizzed: “Two weeks… imagine what she’ll come out with after a few months?”
While another continued: “Most people around the world just want to get on with life and do the best for themselves, their family, their community, their nation, and the world. most. And yes, you are a racist and that’s why the world is the way it is. Stop being miserable.”
A third fumed: “Last time I checked, ‘non-Muslim’ people were called people and ‘Muslim’ people were also called people. Same breed of species. Stop overthinking things please. Accept; Respect and never Reject.”
Shuhada’ also posted a quote which read: “The reign of the middle aged white man is over.”
