May 1 (UPI) -- The Air Force awarded $ 350 million to five contractors Friday for airfield/roadway paving and striping at five military bases in Alaska, the Department of Defense announced. The multiple award task order contract repair, maintenance and construction of roads, parking lots, airfields and related work at the following sites: Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska; Fort Wainwright, Alaska; Fort Greely, Alaska; Clear Air Force Station, Alaska; and 168th Air National Guard property in Alaska. The award went to five contractors: COLASKA, HC Contractors, Paving Products Inc., Great Northwest and Granite Construction. All but Granite are based in Alaska. April 21 (UPI) -- The Pentagon announced Tuesday that it is awarding $ 133 million to increase domestic production of N95 masks by over 39 million over the next 90 days. Under the deal, 3M will receive $ 76 million, O&M Halyward will receive $ 29 million and Honeywell will receive $ 27.4 million to make the masks, which have been in short supply since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. March 17 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy has awarded United Technologies' Pratt & Whitney a nearly $ 320 million contract to produce 32 propulsion systems for the F-35 fighter planes for the Navy, Air Force and Japan.
