Man City 1-2 Lyon: City reduced to 'a barely recognisable rabble'

Sports
In the first half of their shock Champions League defeat by Lyon, I described Manchester City as being a "rabble" - and they really were that bad. When I said that, just after they had gone 2-0 down, I meant they were a team that appeared disorganised and did not look like they were together, which was also conceding possession unnecessarily.Normally that is the state that City reduce other teams too, but at Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night the brilliant side we saw last season was barely recognisable. Why? I think it was down to a combination of things, but it is important to remember this is a bad result for City, but not a catastrophic one. They have got plenty of time to recover and qualif...

Navy SEALs who rescued Thai soccer team from cave barely made it out, officials say

World
Thai Navy SEALs who were clearing the flooded cave where 12 boys and their soccer coach were rescued, barely made it out after the main pump that had been siphoning water out of the cave failed, Thai military sources who were directly involved in the operation told ABC News. The system, which had pumped hundreds of millions of gallons of rainwater out of the cave over the past 18 days, gave out soon after rescuers extracted the coach and the four Thai Navy Seals who had volunteered to stay with them. Thai SEALs and support teams, who were carrying air tanks from the third to the second chamber of the labyrinthine cave, soon noticed the waters rising. The third chamber filled, then the second and then the first, as crews scrambled to avoid the kind of cave flooding that had trapped the so...

Vikings' Teddy Bridgewater enjoyed season despite barely playing

Sports
Teddy Bridgewater barely played last season, but despite the lack of appearances, the Minnesota Vikings quarterback said it was the most favorite season of his football career. "It was probably my favorite season by far, even though I didn't play much," Bridgewater told ESPN on Monday. "This season challenged my mindset because as bad as I wanted to be out there, playing, being the competitor that I am, I wanted to go to war and go to battle with my guys. I had to be out there in a different aspect. I had to be there for the guys mentally." Bridgewater is still working his way back from a crushing knee injury suffered during the 2016 preseason. His only action last season was attempting two passes without a completion and running out the clock in Minnesota's Week 15 blowout win over the Ci...

Lundin barely holds on as operator of North Sea field

Business
June 28 (UPI) -- The Norwegian subsidiary of Lundin Petroleum said Wednesday it nabbed more than $ 90 million for a stake in a North Sea operation. The company, Lundin Norway, said in an emailed statement that it sold a 39 percent interest in the Brynhild field in the Norwegian waters of the North Sea for $ 91.7 million. The Lundin subsidiary retains its role as the operator, while CapeOmega, which is already a partner, increases its stake in the field from 10 percent to 49 percent.Lundin struggled through the market downturn that began in 2015, trimming its production guidance lower as a result of less than expected output from the Brynhild field off the coast of Norway and infrastructure delays for its Edvard Grieg rig.A spokesman for the company told UPI in response to emailed questions ...
