Nov. 21 (UPI) -- New research on the International Space Station will include implantable drug delivery devices and an adhesive that can stimulate bone growth. SpaceX will launch a resupply mission as early as Tuesday to deliver a payload of items developed by commercial companies that need to be tested in orbit. The launch window opens at 3:54 p.m. EST. It will be the 26th commercial resupply service mission by SpaceX and NASA. The Falcon 9 rocket is to be launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The space-based research is sponsored by the ISS National Laboratory. The bone-mending injectable adhesive, called Tetranite, was developed by medical device company RevBio. March 18 (UPI) -- The racial inequality in COVID-19 vaccine distribution across the United States reflects a "broken" healthcare system that has long overlooked communities of color, Stephen B. Thomas, a professor at the University of Maryland School of Public Health, said Thursday. In an analysis of roughly 50 million of the 113 million vaccine doses administered nationally so far, shots were given to 16% of residents of counties with low rates of poverty and unemployment and higher per capita income, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data released earlier this week showed. Aug. 12 (UPI) -- The Arecibo Observatory, the world's most powerful radio space telescope, incurred significant damage when a cable that stabilizes its radio antenna snapped. Observatory engineers worked Tuesday to secure the partially wrecked facility, which was damaged the day before, said managers of the Puerto Rican landmark, who are based at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
