A pair of backup quarterbacks with decorated resumes will be out to send their respective teams to a 2-0 record to start the season. Nick Foles, who is the reigning Super Bowl Most Valuable Player, leads the Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) into Raymond James Stadium to face Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0) on Sunday (1 p.m. ET). TAMPA, Fla. --Former Bucs coach and current NFL analyst Tony Dungy said that quarterback Jameis Winston's three-game suspension is disappointing, but he still hopes the 24-year-old can learn from his mistakes moving forward. "Obviously, it's disappointing, and you never want to have your leader not there and available for the team," Dungy told the Tampa Bay Times. "I'm sure he's disappointed about that, too. Nick Folk: Tampa Bay Buccaneers cut veteran kicker

Feb. 22 (UPI) -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released veteran kicker Nick Folk.Tampa Bay announced the move on Thursday afternoon. Folk, 33, made 6-of-11 kick attempts last season in four games for the Buccaneers. The 11-year veteran also missed two extra point attempts.Folk was a sixth round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys.He was a Pro Bowl selection during his rookie campaign after making 26-of-31 attempts and completing 53-of-53 extra point attempts. Folk joined the New York Jets in 2010, before signing with the Buccaneers last offseason. He led the NFL with 39 field goal attempts in 2014.Folk was cleared to resume kicking two weeks ago after undergoing surgery last season on his left knee. Nov. 6 (UPI) -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be without Pro Bowl wide receiver Mike Evans in Week 10 due to a one-game suspension.NFL vice president of football operations Jon Runyan issued the suspension on Monday. The suspension is without pay for violations of unsportsmanlike conduct and unnecessary roughness rules in Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints.Evans was involved in a scuffle in the third quarter of the 30-10 loss at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston poked Saints defender Marshon Lattimore in the back of the head during the sequence. Lattimore then shoved Winston.
