Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers will not resort to pragmatism despite suffering a 3-0 defeat to German giants Bayern Munich in their Champions League clash in the Allianz Arena. The Northern Irishman had promised to play on the front foot in the Group B encounter and in an open game, skipper Thomas Muller opened the scoring in the 17th minute before right-back Joshua Kimmich headed in a second in the 29th minute.Mats Hummels headed in a third six minutes after the break and although the Scottish champions threatened more in the second-half it was a comfortable win for the star-studded home side.Asked if he could perhaps have been more pragmatic in his approach, Rodgers, whose side lost 5-0 at home to French side Paris Saint-Germain in their opening fixture before beting Anderlecht 3-0 away, sai...

Celtic 0-0 Rosenborg: Hoops' Champions League hopes hang in the balance

Celtic's bid to reach the Champions League group stages stuttered with a goalless draw against Rosenborg in the first leg of their third-round qualifier at Parkhead. The Hoops played without a recognised centre forward due to injury and suspension - midfielder Tom Rogic was ostensibly the furthest man in attack - and they missed a focal point in an encounter where the visiting keeper Andre Hansen had little to do.Indeed, the Norwegian side created the better chances and Celtic keeper Craig Gordon made several saves to give the Scottish champions, big favourites for the tie, at least a clean sheet to take into the second leg.The suspended Leigh Griffiths will be available for the return game at the Lerkendal Stadion in Trondheim next Wednesday if he recovers from a calf injury - Moussa Dembe...
