Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Former Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions defensive lineman Mike Daniels has agreed to a short-term contract with the Cincinnati Bengals. League sources told ESPN and NFL Media on Tuesday that Daniels agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $ 2.7 million with the Bengals. The team has yet to confirm the agreement, which is pending a physical. Advertisement The Bengals are adding Daniels to provide depth on their defensive line. Ryan Glasgow was waived less than two weeks ago after a failed physical, and Josh Tupou opted out of the 2020 season because of coronavirus concerns. Cleveland Indians dealing Trevor Bauer to Cincinnati Reds in 3-team trade

July 30 (UPI) -- The Cleveland Indians are trading All-Star pitcher Trevor Bauer to the Cincinnati Reds in a blockbuster deal. League sources told ESPN and MLB.com on Tuesday that Bauer is headed to the Reds as part of a three-team trade that includes the San Diego Padres. The Indians are acquiring outfielders Yasiel Puig and Franmil Reyes and left-hander Logan Allen, while the Padres will add OF prospect Taylor Trammell. The clubs haven't confirmed the deal. Bauer, who made his first All-Star Game in 2018, has a 9-8 record with a 3.79 ERA and 185 strikeouts in 24 starts this season. The 28-year-old pitcher is making $ 13 million this season and isn't a free agent until after the 2020 campaign. July 15 (UPI) -- Cincinnati Bengals guard Clint Boling announced his retirement Monday after he missed all spring workouts with a blood clot in his leg. Boling, 30, was a fourth-round pick of the Bengals in 2011. The former Georgia Bulldog started 109 games, the majority at left guard, and played all 16 games in a season five times since becoming a starter in 2012. Boling met with Bengals owner and team president Mike Brown on Monday morning to confirm he was leaving football. June 24 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy accepted delivery of its newest littoral combat ship, to be named the USS Cincinnati, in ceremonies in Mobile, Ala. The ship, designated LCS 20, is a relatively small surface vessel designed for near-shore Navy operations, and is the 10th in the Navy's Independence class. The delivery on Friday marks the official transfer of the ship from its builder, Austal USA, to the Navy. It will be commissioned and officially named in ceremonies later this year in Gulfport, Miss. June 18 (UPI) -- Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve could be back playing with the team as early as Wednesday after an extended stint on the injured list. Astros manager A.J. Hinch said Wednesday that Altuve will join the team in Cincinnati for their final game against the Reds. The team will assess Altuve to see if he is healthy enough to play in the finale of the series against the Reds or if he needs more time to heal from his left hamstring injury. "There's a chance he is activated as soon as tomorrow, which would be great for our team, both morale-wise and production-wise," Hinch told MLB Network Radio on Tuesday.
