This weekend will feature the second meteor shower in as many weeks as Earth passes through a trail of debris left behind by one of the most well-known comets in recent history. The annual Eta Aquarid meteor shower will reach its peak on Saturday night into the early morning hours of Sunday, but the number of meteors visible to stargazers will depend on their location around the globe. "This shower happens to be one of, if not the best, showers in the Southern Hemisphere and is a moderate shower for the Northern Hemisphere," AccuWeather astronomy blogger Dave Samuhel said. Seven sailors are missing and five others were injured after the U.S. Navy destroyer USS Fitzgerald collided with a Philippine container ship off the coast of Japan in the early hours of Saturday morning local time, the Navy's 7th Fleet said. One of the injured sailors medically evacuated by a Japanese coast guard helicopter was the ship's commanding officer. The Fitzgerald was operating about 56 nautical miles southwest of Yokosuka, Japan, when it hit the container ship at approximately 2:30 a.m. local time. The U.S. ship sustained damage on its starboard side and is experiencing flooding in some spaces, according to the 7th Fleet. Propulsion is limited. June 16 (UPI) -- Seven U.S. sailors are unaccounted for and others were injured early Saturday after a Navy warship collided with a container ship in the Pacific off the coast of Japan, authorities said.The collision occurred in the Philippine Sea between the merchant ship and the U.S. Navy's guided missile destroyer USS Fitzgerald. The vessel's commanding officer, Cmdr.
