Chicago Cubs host Colorado Rockies in NL Wild Card Game

Sports
CHICAGO -- In the matter of just a few hours Monday, the Chicago Cubs went from being tied for the best record in the National League to finding themselves playing for their baseball lives on Tuesday. Despite that, however, they are just glad to still be alive. The Cubs will look to extend their season on Tuesday when they host the NL Wild Card Game against the Colorado Rockies at Wrigley Field. Chicago (95-68) missed on a chance to host the NLD when they lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 3-1 on Monday in the one-game tiebreaker for the Central Division title. Instead, they will host the Rockies (91-72), who dropped a 5-2 decision to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Monday's other divisional tiebreaker. Trump eases US methane rules as Colorado says state's work

Energy companies have found and repaired about 73,000 methane leaks since 2015 under a state-required oil field inspection program, according to the Colorado Air Pollution Control Division. The number of leaks fell by 52 percent, from more than 36,000 in 2015 to about 17,250 in 2017, according a state report released last week. Neither the government nor industry groups could say how much methane has been kept out of the atmosphere when the leaks were fixed, citing the complexity of factors involved. But state officials said the sharp decline in the number of leaks shows...

Bear cub with burnt paws rescued from Colorado wildfire

An orphaned bear cub suffered painful burns to her paws in one of the half-dozen significant wildfires scorching Colorado, but she is being nursed back to health, state officials said Friday. Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers believe the bear will recover well enough to be released this winter. "When the bear was brought in, I wasn't sure if it was going to make it," Michael Sirochman said, a Parks and Wildlife veterinary technician. "But she's responding very well to treatment, and by winter we believe we'll be able to return her to the wild." It was an encouraging bit of news amid an extreme drought and an outbreak of disruptive wildfires in Colorado and much of the Southwestern U.S. The wildfire that injured the cub has burned 65 square miles (168 square kilometers) near Durango in...

Davis disregarded the 6-foot-8, 239-pound forward, throwing down a crazy one-handed slam."JD is just a crazy athlete and that play gave us a spark. He does that all the time, people just do not see it like we do when he does it in practice and it's not on film like tonight," Davis' teammate Andre Spight told reporte...
