Indianapolis Colts rookie WR Deon Cain tears ACL, out for year

Sports
Rookie wide receiver Deon Cain of the Indianapolis Colts will miss the 2018 season because of a torn ACL sustained during Thursday night's preseason opener against the Seattle Seahawks. Colts head coach Frank Reich made the announcement on Friday afternoon. The 6-foot-2, 202-pound Cain was a sixth-round pick (185th overall) by the Colts out of Clemson and was expected to make a contribution this season after impressing during training camp. The 22-year-old Cain, whose draft stock slipped because of off-the-field issues, was injured after making the first catch of his initial professional game. Cain was suspended by Clemson for the 2015 Orange Bowl and the 2016 College Football Playoff National Championship Game for failing a drug test. In the 2016-17 season, Cain returned and played...

Indianapolis Colts LT Anthony Castonzo re-injures hamstring

Indianapolis Colts left tackle Anthony Castonzo re-injured his ailing hamstring a few days after being activated from the non-football injury list. Colts head coach Frank Reich told reporters on Sunday that Castonzo "will miss a little bit of time," via the Indianapolis Star. Recent signee J'Marcus Webb likely will see additional snaps with the first-team offense in the preseason in the absence of the 29-year-old Castonzo, who was activated from the non-football injury list on Wednesday. Castonzo is tentatively expected to be ready for the Colts' season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 9. A healthy Castonzo also is expected to aid in the development of first-round pick Quenton Nelson and second-round selection Braden Smith. Let's block ads! (Why?) Sports News - UPI.c...

Andrew Luck is still not throwing but first-year Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich is not concerned. Reich told the Indianapolis Star on Saturday that Luck is doing "exceptionally well" in his rehab from shoulder surgery that forced him to miss the entire 2017 season. Luck has not thrown a pass since the 2016 regular-season finale, and Colts general manager Chris Ballard said last month that he doesn't expect the quarterback to begin throwing until training camp. The overall No. 1 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Luck admitted he "pushed a little too hard" in his attempt to return to action after having surgery to repair a torn labrum on Jan. 15, 2017. Recurring soreness in Luck's shoulder prompted the Colts to finally shut him down two weeks after he returned to practice in early...

Also, Buffalo wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin injured his right knee during the third quarter. He returned in the fourth quarter, however.
