Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey out until at least April

Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Winnipeg defenseman Josh Morrissey will be out until at least April after sustaining an upper-body injury, Jets head coach Paul Maurice said. Morrissey suffered the injury on a hit from Arizona Coyotes forward Vinnie Hinostroza during the third period of the Jets' 4-1 loss on Sunday. "Josh will be out through the month of March and his window will open sometime in early April," Maurice told reporters Tuesday. Morrissey, who missed three games because of different lower-body injuries this season, has 31 points (six goals, 25 assists) in 59 games this year. The Jets acquired defenseman Nathan Beaulieu from the Buffalo Sabres on Monday in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. Florida Panthers hire former NHL defenseman Bob Boughner as head coach

The Florida Panthers named Bob Boughner as their head coach on Monday. The former NHL defenseman becomes the 15th coach in the franchise's 24-year history, and its fifth since 2011. "After an exhaustive search, we are pleased to welcome Bob as the new head coach of the Panthers," general manager Dale Tallon said of the 46-year-old Boughner. "He sees the game in a modern way and is eager to work with our young players. "During the interview process, Bob blew us away with his preparation, his passion, knowledge and dedication to the game. We believe that he is the right leader to get our team back to competing towards our goal of winning the Stanley Cup."
