Navy accepts delivery of USNS Burlington Expeditionary Fast Transport

Nov. 16 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy accepted its tenth Spearhead-class Expeditionary Fast Transport, or EPF 10, from Austal USA on Nov. 15th, according to Navy press release USNS Burlington will be owned and operated by the Military Sealift Command and will be used in a variety of missions including overseas contingency operations, humanitarian assistance and special operations forces support. "Burlington will provide tremendous flexibility to combatant commanders in the fleet," Strategic and Theater Sealift program manager Capt. Scott Searles said in a release."EPF 10 will enhance our forward presence and provide a variety of capabilities to U.S. operations around the globe." NEW DELHI: After a long wait, the Delhi government on Monday launched its ‘Home Delivery of Public Services’ scheme, which has been projected as an attempt to eliminate corruption in various public-dealing offices. Under the scheme, Delhiites can avail of 40 services — issuance of caste, income and domicile certificates, learner’s and permanent driving licences, transfer of ownership of vehicle and change in address on vehicle RC, new sewer and water connections, new ration cards and pension for handicapped among others — without standing in long queues at government offices. Addressing a gathering at 58 locations, where the launch at Delhi Secretariat was broadcast live, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said the government machinery was undergoing a revolutionary change. &

KC-46 tanker aircraft completes flight tests ahead of first delivery

July 13 (UPI) -- The KC-46 Pegasus has successfully completed its final flight tests, setting the stage for delivery of the first aircraft to the U.S. Air Force in late October. The joint Boeing and Air Force team tested the Remote Vision System and completed tanker aircraft refueling certifications for the F-16 Fighting Falcon and C-17 Globemaster III, the Air Force announced Friday. The testing also included the KC-46 being refueled by the current KC-135 Stratotanker, which fulfills minimum qualifications for delivery of the aircraft.
