OWN drama ‘David Makes Man’ to land on HBO Max July 16

June 29 (UPI) -- HBO Max announced Season 1 of David Makes Man, a drama series from Moonlight writer Tarell Alvin McCraney, will be available to stream starting July 16. The streaming service said it has obtained exclusive streaming rights for the drama series, which earned a Peabody Award after it premiered on cable network OWN in 2019. Advertisement The Florida-set series was inspired by events from the life of McCraney, who won an Academy Award in 2017 for his screenplay for the film Moonlight. The show stars Akili McDowell as David, a 14-year-old prodigy seeking to help his mother find a way out of poverty while also dealing with the fallout from the death of his closest friend. June 22 (UPI) -- Filmmaker Tyler Perry is working on The Oval, a new BET Networks drama set in the White House and focused on a fictional, first family. Principal photography is to begin this summer at Tyler Perry Studios in Georgia. The show's ensemble includes Ed Quinn, Kron Moore, Paige Hurd and Daniel Croix Henderson. "I've been hard at work on The Oval and can't wait to share this story with audiences," Perry said in a press release. "I've set out to create a show that tells the story of a family placed in the White House by people of power while also highlighting the personal side and everyday lives of the staff who run the inner workings of the nation's most iconic residence." The Gatwick Airport drone drama which grounded hundreds of flights will be discussed by ministers in a Christmas Eve conference call.Sussex Police insisted it was not "back to square one" after releasing an arrested man and woman without charge.It said it was investigating 67 drone sightings but had earlier raised the possibility there may have been no drone at all.
