July 14 (UPI) -- An accused Islamist militant declined to enter a plea in response to war crimes charges at the start of his International Criminal Court trial Tuesday in The Hague. Al Hassan Ag Abdoul Aziz Ag Mohamed Ag Mahmoud, 42, refused to plead guilty or not guilty to the charges, but acknowledged he understood the charges. Advertisement He told the judges, "I cannot answer that question," when they read each of the 13 charges. Hassan is accused of joining the Ansar Dine militant group and leading a force of religious police during an Islamist occupation of Timbuktu, Mali, in mid-2012. Prosecutors said he enforced a strict version of Sharia law, allegedly torturing offenders and encouraging forced marriages, which "led to repeated rapes and sexual enslavement of women and girls." ORLANDO, Fla., May 31 (UPI) -- Two NASA astronauts safely boarded the International Space Station on Sunday, capping a successful flight of SpaceX's historic Crew Dragon Demo 2 mission. The capsule connected to the station at 10:16 a.m. EDT, slightly ahead of the scheduled time as the space station passed above the northern China-Mongolia border. Astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken entered the station at 1:22 p.m. Advertisement NASA and SpaceX crews on the ground congratulated the astronauts, while astronaut Chris Cassidy -- already on board the station -- welcomed them. Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is leaving the school in order to enter the 2020 NFL Draft. Tagovailoa announced his decision to head to the NFL Monday in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The Crimson Tide star completed 71.4 percent of his throws for 2,840 yards, 33 touchdowns and three interceptions this season before sustaining a season-ending hip injury. "It was just a hard decision all around, taking into consideration the pros and cons for both sides of the decision," Tagovailoa said. "I seek guidance from my family. June 18 (UPI) -- Sacramento Kings forward Harrison Barnes is expected to decline his $ 25.1 million player option and become an unrestricted free agent, his agent, Jeff Schwartz, told ESPN on Tuesday. Barnes, 27, will enter free agency in the hopes of landing a long-term contract, according to his agent. The Kings are open to working out a long-term deal with Barnes, according to ESPN. April 11 (UPI) -- Duke Blue Devils freshman Cam Reddish joined teammate RJ Barrett and declared for the 2019 NBA Draft. Reddish announced his decision on social media Thursday and thanked fans and members of the coaching staff for his one season at the school. "This season was epic, and I am so thankful to have had Duke as a part of the foundation that prepared me to play at the next level," Reddish wrote. "Never forget -- I am a Blue Devil for life.
