Sebi gives exit route to mutual fund investors in wound up schemes

The Securities and Exchange Board of India has said that the units of schemes in the process of winding up will have to be listed on recognised stock exchanges. This rule will have to be followed by all open and close-ended schemes. This move by the market watchdog comes after Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund decided to wind up 6 of its debt mutual fund schemes. In a circular issued on Wednesday, Sebi said: "In terms of Regulation 31B(1) of the MF Regulations, the units of Mutual Fund schemes can be listed in the recognized stock exchange. Accordingly, the units of Mutual Fund schemes which are in the process of winding-up in terms of Regulation 39(2)(a) of MF Regulations, shall be listed on recognized stock exchange, subject to compliance with listing formalities as stipulated by the stoc...

Broadcasting colleagues have spoken in support of Alastair Stewart after he stepped down from ITV News, apparently in the wake of a Twitter race row.Ranvir Singh, political editor of ITV's Good Morning Britain, said: "I would never use the word 'racist' and his name in the same sentence."Others posting personal tributes to Stewart included former ITV newsreader Katie Derham and Sky's Adam Boulton.Stewart left after what ITN called "errors of judgment" on social media.ITV presenter Julie Etchingham wrote on Twitter: "So sad to learn this - we have worked on many big stories together & Al is a trusted friend and guide to many of us." Exit polls show Polish Law and Justice party winning parliamentary elections

Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Poland's ruling Law and Justice Party won the country's parliamentary elections, according to exit polls released Sunday. The polls showed Law and Justice, or PiS, won 43.6 percent of the vote defeating the Civic Coalition which won 27. 4 percent of the vote. A group of left-wing parties known as the Left won 11.9 percent, the conservative Polish Coalition won 9.6 percent and the right-wing Confederation party won 6.4 percent. A final count of the vote is expected on Tuesday. Preliminary seat distribution of the 460-member lower house of parliament, known as the Sejm, showed PiS would earn 239 seats enough for an absolute majority of the chamber.
