Janet Jackson documentary to air on A&E, Lifetime in 2022

March 3 (UPI) -- A four-hour documentary event about pop music icon Janet Jackson will air on Lifetime and A&E over two nights in early 2022, the cable networks announced Wednesday. The program will be timed to the 40th anniversary of the 54-year-old singer's first album, Janet Jackson. Advertisement "With full unprecedented access to the music icon, Janet will be an intimate, honest and unfiltered look at her untold story," a press release said. "Producers Workerbee have been filming the incredible documentary for three years and have been granted exclusive access to archival footage and Janet's never before seen home videos, along with star-studded interviews." Peter Jackson releases five-minute sneak peek at upcoming Beatles film

Director Sir Peter Jackson has released a five-minute sneak peek of his long-awaited documentary about The Beatles. The film won't be open in UK cinemas until next summer, but Sir Peter said he wanted to share a montage in the meantime to cheer people up this Christmas. His selected clips show the Fab Four working in the studio, joking with the camera, and their last live gig, backed with a recording of the band's single and documentary namesake: Get Back. "We wanted to give the fans of The Beatles all over the world a holiday treat, so we put together this five-minute sneak peek at our upcoming theatrical film The Beatles: Get Back," the Oscar-winning director said."We hope it will bring a smile to everyone's faces and some much-needed joy at this difficult time." ...

Dec. 4 (UPI) -- The playing status for Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson remains in limbo ahead of Week 13 of the 2020 NFL season. Tagovailoa hasn't played since he was benched during the Dolphins' Nov. 22 loss to the Denver Broncos. The team said Tagovailoa's in-game demotion was not injury related at the time, but later said he had sustained an injury to his left thumb. He missed the Dolphins' Week 12 win over the New York Jets because of the injury. Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Virginia Military Institute's Board of Visitors voted Thursday to move the Stonewall Jackson statue on the school's campus. The decision follows the resignation Monday of the college's superintendent, Ret. Gen. J.H. Bindford Peay III, after the Washington Post reported that Black cadets endure racism that includes lynching threats. Advertisement That reporting prompted Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, a Democrat, to order an independent investigation into the 181-year-old school's culture. VMI received $ 19 million in state funds this fiscal year.
