May 24 (UPI) -- Kyle Schwarber got the Chicago Cubs rolling with a gigantic leadoff solo home run against the Cincinnati Reds on Friday at Wrigley Field in Chicago. The 449-foot bomb landed on Sheffield Avenue behind the right field wall. Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks struck out the two first batters he faced, before forcing Eugenio Suarez into a groundout to end the top of the first inning. Schwarber then stepped into the box to start the bottom of the first frame. Reds starter Anthony DeSclafani fell behind 2-0 in the count behind Schwarber before getting a called strike. April 8 (UPI) -- The Virginia Cavaliers outlasted the Texas Tech Red Raiders 85-77 in overtime Monday at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis to win the national championship. The Cavaliers had only reached the Final Four twice in program history. In Virginia's first trip to the national semifinal since 1984, the Cavaliers walked away with their first national title in school history.
