April 7 (UPI) -- The University of Arizona has fired men's basketball coach Sean Miller, the school announced Wednesday. Miller posted a 302-109 record during his 12 seasons with the Wildcats, but also coached the team amid an NCAA investigation and FBI probe into corruption in recruiting at Arizona and other college basketball programs. Texas men’s basketball coach Shaka Smart leaves for Marquette job

March 26 (UPI) -- Texas Longhorns men's basketball coach Shaka Smart has been hired as Marquette's next head coach, the school announced Friday. Smart replaces former Marquette coach Steve Wojciechowski, who was fired last week after seven seasons leading the Golden Eagles. NCAA to allow fans at Division I men’s basketball tournament

Feb. 19 (UPI) -- The NCAA will allow a limited number of fans at the 2021 Division I men's basketball tournament, the governing body of college sports said Friday. NCAA officials said the decision to allow up to 25% capacity at tournament venues, with physical distancing, was made in conjunction with state and local health authorities in Indiana. Attendees will be required to wear masks. Advertisement Officials announced in January that the entire 67-game tournament will be held in Indiana to better control the environment for the event's participants amid the coronavirus pandemic. Selection Sunday, the annual day that teams find out if they earned a spot in the tournament, is planned for March 14. Tournament play starts March 16 and 17. Nov. 20 (UPI) -- More than 50 college football and NFL games, the ATP men's tennis season finale and the MLS Cup Playoffs fill up the weekend sports schedule, plus UFC bouts, European soccer and a golf tournament. The coronavirus pandemic has resulted in 30 canceled or postponed college football games over the last two weeks. Forty-two games are on the schedule from Friday through Saturday, featuring several matchups between ranked teams.
