Minnesota Vikings LB Antwione Williams pleads guilty to careless driving

Minnesota Vikings linebacker Antwione Williams pleaded guilty to reckless driving last month. Williams was arrested in May and charged with suspicion of drunken driving, careless driving and speeding, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, which learned of the arrest Thursday. The DWI and speeding charges were dropped when Williams pleaded guilty to the reckless driving charge on July 26, the newspaper reported. Williams was sentenced to 30 days in the Hennepin County (Minn.) Workhouse but did not serve any time after 29 days were suspended and he was credited with one day of time served in jail. Matt Carpenter returned to the St. Louis Cardinals' lineup Tuesday night after getting a few days off to regroup. Now, it's Dexter Fowler's turn to get back on track. Fowler is expected back among St. Louis' starting nine Wednesday when the Cardinals wrap up a two-game interleague series with the Minnesota Twins at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minn. The center fielder was expected to be a sparkplug atop St. Louis' lineup this season, but both he and Carpenter got off to the worst offensive starts of their careers. April 24 (UPI) -- With certain conditions, a judge in Minnesota backed a plan by Canadian oil shipper Enbridge to replace an aging oil pipeline with a bigger one.Enbridge is proposing an overhaul of the Line 3 segment of a broader network that extends through parts of Canada and into the northern United States. The company wants to pull the old network out and replace it with a new line capable of carrying more Canadian oil through the region.Administrative Law Judge Ann O'Reilly found that Line 3 is an integral part of the broader regional network, the company's Mainline pipeline system."Line 3, however, is old, needs significant repair, and poses significant integrity concerns for the state," her ruling read. The Minnesota Vikings announced the signing of three players on Wednesday: kicker Kai Forbath, tight end Josiah Price and long snapper Nick Dooley. They also waived linebacker Shaan Washington. The Vikings re-signed Forbath to a one-year deal, according to multiple media outlets. Forbath, who became a free agent last week, connected on a career-high 32 field-goal attempts last season -- including six from at least 50 yards. Forbath recorded a personal-best 38 field-goal attempts and finished with 130 points last season.
