Manchester City 3-0 Wolves: Gabriel Jesus scores twice as City narrow gap on Liverpool

Gabriel Jesus scored twice as Manchester City eased past 10-man Wolves to cut Liverpool's lead at the top of the table to four points.City did not manage a repeat of the scoring feats that had seen them hit 16 goals against Rotherham and Burton in their previous two games, but the outcome was rarely in doubt despite the relatively modest winning margin.Jesus opened the scoring after 10 minutes when Leroy Sane ran on to a peach of a pass by Aymeric Laporte and squared for the Brazilian to slide home. Manchester City reignited the Premier League title race as they ended Liverpool's 20-game unbeaten start to the season to reduce their lead at the top of the table to four points.Pep Guardiola's hosts knew nothing less than a win at Etihad Stadium would do on a Thursday night riddled with tension that produced a game that was frenetic if not a classic.Leroy Sane produced the decisive moment 18 minutes from time as he collected Raheem Sterling's pass to fire across Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson, after it had seemed like Roberto Firmino's stooping header would maintain the visitors' unbeaten sequence. Sergio Aguero had earlier given City the lead with a rising, near-post drive just before the in...
New foldable drone can navigate narrow holes

New foldable drone can navigate narrow holes

Science
Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Drones can be used to explore environs too difficult and dangerous for humans to navigate, like a burned out building or the rubble of a collapsed bridge. But often, entrances to and passageways through these environments are quite small -- holes and cracks measuring just a few inches wide. Engineers at the University of Zurich have developed a foldable drone that can shrink itself to fit through small holes. The technology could help drones navigate tight confines during search and rescue missions in the wake of a disaster. Inspired by birds, which can fold their wings mid-flight, Swiss engineers built a drone that can fold its arms in order to fly through small spaces without sacrificing aerial stability. Researchers described their new technology in the journal IEEE Ro...

Redskins on top of NFC East after narrow win over Cowboys

Sports
The Dallas Cowboys' chance to end their road woes clanged off the left upright and fell away as time expired. Kicker Brett Maher missed a 52-yard field goal on the final play and Washington held on to a 20-17 victory over Dallas on Sunday at FedEx Field. Maher first lined up for a 47-yard attempt, but Washington jumped across the line of scrimmage and the officials called a snap infraction on Cowboys' deep snapper L.P. Ladouceur. The call against Ladouceur will be one of many things Dallas coaches, players and fans revisit after the Cowboys (3-4) fell to 0-4 on the road this season. Dallas was trying to erase a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Dak Prescott ran one yard for a touchdown to cut the Redskins' lead to three points. His TD capped a 12-play, 74-yard driv...
