Non-life insurance companies' gross premium increased by 9 per cent to Rs 10,012.41 crore in November, according to data from Irdai. They had collected gross premium of Rs 9,179.84 crore during the same month of 2016-17. There are a total of 30 non-life insurance companies in the country, of which six are standalone health insurers, two are specialised and the rest general insurance firms. The 22 general insurance companies collected total premium of Rs 9,188.58 crore in November, up 8.5 per cent from a year ago. The gross premium of standalone health insurance companies jumped nearly 46 per cent from a year ago to Rs 610.34 crore in November 2017-18. BENGALURU: The Unified Payments Interface, the smartphonebased bank-to-bank instant payment system, continued to post steady growth, buoyed by increased adoption by consumers and the entry of major technology giants onto the platform. In November, it clocked 105 million transactions, a 38% jump from the previous month, showed data from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) that runs the UPI platform. The number of transactions was the highest ever for a month on the platform. The value of transactions rose about 37% to Rs 9,679 crore in the past month from Rs 7,057 crore in October. Bharat 22 ETF to open for public subscription on November 15

NEW DELHI: Bharat 22 exchange traded fund (ETF) is all set to open for public subscription on November 15, ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company while filing the launch documents for the open-ended ETF said on Saturday. Anchor investors could participate in the new fund offer (NFO) on November 14, it said. The NFO will close on November 17. Announced in August this year, the government intends to raise in excess of Rs 8,000 crore from the NFO. The ETF would mirror the S&P BSE Bharat 22 Index that comprises of select companies from the CPSE universe, stakes held under the Specified Undertaking of the Unit Trust of India (SUUTI) and public sector banks (PSBs).
