June 22 (UPI) -- Major League Baseball owners voted unanimously to play the 2020 season under the terms of their March agreement with the MLB Players Association, the league announced Monday night. The league's owners voted to implement a 60-game season, hours after the MLBPA's executive board turned down MLB's latest 60-game proposal that included full prorated pay and expanded playoffs. According to ESPN and The Athletic, the union voted 33-5 to reject the owners' offer. June 8 (UPI) -- Major League Baseball team owners made a new proposal to players for a resumed season on Monday with a tentative schedule of 76 games and a July 10 start to the suspended 2020 campaign. Sources told ESPN, The Athletic and MLB Network about the proposal. Advertisement Players would receive 75 percent of their salaries under the terms of the new plan. The offer likely nixes a previous tentative start date of July 4. Owners had considered a 50-game schedule last week. The parties also have considered 82 games. May 15 (UPI) -- The NFL will present a pair of resolutions to league owners next week, including one that would improve draft picks for teams that hire minority candidates in head coach or general manager roles. Under the proposal, which is aimed at fixing diversity issues across the league, a team could upgrade its third-round draft selection by up to 16 picks if a minority candidate is hired. The draft pick could go up 10 spots for hiring a minority general manager or an equivalent-level position and six spots for hiring a minority candidate as head coach. If the plan is approved, teams also could move up five spots in the fourth round should a minority general manager or head coach enter the third year on the job.
