Look: Director shares first photo of Joaquin Phoenix in standalone 'Joker' film

Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Director Todd Phillips posted on Instagram Sunday the first photo of Joaquin Phoenix in their standalone Joker film."Arthur," Phillips captioned the image of Phoenix, who stares at the camera -- unsmiling and without the titular villain's signature clown makeup. Phoenix, 43, has unkempt, collar-length hair and is wearing a rumpled, button-down shirt and jacket in the picture. Phoenix's previous films include To Die For, Gladiator, Quills, Her and Walk the Line. Phillips is known for helming The Hangover comedy trilogy. Warner Bros. plans to release the Joker origin film on Oct. 4, 2019. A man who hacked into more than 200 iCloud accounts of Hollywood stars, including Jennifer Lawrence, has been jailed for eight months. George Garofano was sentenced in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he was told he must also serve three years of supervised released and perform 60 hours of community service.Garofano was one of four men arrested in the 2014 hacking scandal that led to private photos of Lawrence, Kirsten Dunst, Kate Upton and others being made public.Authorities say the hackers used a phishing scheme that sent emails appearing to be from Apple security accounts that asked for usernames and passwords.Garofano pleaded guilty in April and asked for leniency, saying he faces a lifetime loss of rights because of the felony conviction.Speaking at the time of the leak...

April 27 (UPI) -- NASA scientists conducted the longest flight of the Operation IceBridge mission's spring campaign this week. On Friday, the space agency shared a photo captured during the flight.The image features a ridge in Greenland dividing a pair of glacial valleys. The deep blue of a fjord and the Arctic sky interrupt the snow-capped mountains.The most recent Operation IceBridge flight lasted 8.5 hours, allowing scientists to collect data on several glaciers and other points of interest.The IceBridge mission is the largest airborne polar survey yet undertaken. A winning entry in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition has been disqualified for featuring a taxidermy specimen. The image, known as The Night Raider, shows an anteater moving towards a termite mound in a Brazilian reserve. London's Natural History Museum, which runs the competition, says the use of stuffed animals breaches its rules. The photographer, Marcio Cabral, denies he faked the scene, and claims there is a witness who was with him on the day.Other photographers and tourists were in the park at the same time and therefore "it would be very unlikely anyone wouldn't see a stuffed animal being transported and placed carefully in this position", he told BBC News.But Roz Kidman Cox, the chair of judges for Wildlife Photographer of the Year (WPY), was stern in her criticism...
