Jan. 5 (UPI) -- The Navy has awarded BAE Systems with a $ 4 million contract to conduct a quick-turnaround demonstration of a new radio frequency countermeasure system for the P-8A Poseidon aircraft. According to BAE, the RFCM system is a light-weight, high-power system that will add a new self-protection capability to the Poseidon. Boeing receives $428M contract for modifications on P-8A Poseidon maritime plane

March 1 (UPI) -- Boeing Co. has received a $ 428 million contract to support long-lead material and activities for 16 P-8A aircraft for three countries. The contract, announced Thursday by the Department of Defense, calls for six planes to be built for the U.S. Navy, as well as four for New Zealand's armed forces and six for South Korea. The aircraft is the U.S. Navy's next-generation maritime surveillance aircraft. Up to 117 P-8As are expected to be purchased by the Navy to replace its fleet of 196 P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft, now approaching the end of their operational lives. The majority of the work will be performed at Boeing's Seattle facility, with work expected to conclude by June 2020. May 25 (UPI) -- Boeing has been awarded a contract by the Defense Department for three P-8A Poseidon aircraft. The deal was announced Thursday by the Defense Department in a contract worth more than $ 416.4 million under the terms of a modified firm-fixed-price contract. The contract enables Boeing to manufacture and deliver three P-8A Poseidon multi-mission maritime aircraft for the Navy, according to the Defense Department. The P-8A Poseidon is an anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare aircraft designed to work in conjunction with the MQ-4C Triton, an unmanned aerial vehicle, for maritime patrol operations, according to the Navy.
