March 17 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy has awarded United Technologies' Pratt & Whitney a nearly $ 320 million contract to produce 32 propulsion systems for the F-35 fighter planes for the Navy, Air Force and Japan. The The $ 319.7 million contract, announced Monday by the Department of Defense, exercises an option for production and delivery of 20 F135-PW-100 propulsion systems for the Navy, six F135-PW-100 propulsion systems for the U.S. Air Force and six F135-PW-100 propulsion systems for the government of Japan. Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. awarded $127.4M to produce two C-37Bs

Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. was awarded a $ 127.4 million contract to produce two C-37B aircraft for the U.S. Air Force, the Pentagon said Thursday. According to the Air Force, C-37 aircraft are low-wing business jets powered by twin turbofan engines, capable of all-weather, long-range, high-speed nonstop flights. The C-37B is a military counterpart to the Gulfstream 550 aircraft, which provide transportation for senior leadership. The deal is Gulfstream's second contract this week to fund the C-37 program. Earlier this week the contractor received an $ 80.1 million contract modification to maintain, repair and rebuild the C-20 and C-37 fleet for the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard. Lockheed nabs $185M to produce SEWIP systems for Navy

Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Lockheed Martin was awarded a $ 185 million contract for production of Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Programs that defend the Navy's aircraft carriers, cruisers and destroyers from missiles, the Pentagon announced. The contract funds a one-year period but includes options that could extend the contract four additional years, for a potential cumulative value of $ 812 million. The bulk of work -- 78 percent -- will take place at Lockheed's worksite in Liverpool, New York, with the remaining 22 percent taking place in Lansdale, Penn. Lockheed told syracuse.com it does not intend to do any additional hiring to fulfill the contract, though the company recently held a job fair to recruit for up to 118 positions in upstate New York.
