Dec. 7 (UPI) -- A mysterious illness in India has killed one man and sickened over 300 people since Saturday. The cause of the illness spreading in Eluru town in Andhra Pradesh's West Godavari district has yet to be identified, but symptoms reported since Saturday night have included giddiness and epilepsy. Advertisement A 45-year-old man, identified as Sridhar from Vidyanagar area of Eluru town, who experienced epilepsy and giddiness symptoms and was admitted to a local hospital, according to his family, died Sunday. An Arizona-based company is recalling more than 6.5 million pounds of raw beef that may be contaminated with salmonella -- after 57 people in 16 states have gotten sick, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Thursday. The raw beef items from JBS Tolleson, Inc., including ground beef, were packaged on various dates between July 26 and Sept. 7 of this year, and are marked with the establishment number “EST. 267” inside the Department of Agriculture (USDA) mark of inspection, according to the agency. The affected meat is sold nationally under the labels: Showcase (sold at Walmart), Cedar River Farms Natural Beef, Comnor Perfect Choice, Gourmet Burger, Grass Run Farms Natural Beef, JBS Generic. Fake marijuana likely contaminated with rat poison has killed three people in Illinois and caused severe bleeding in more than 100 others, including a few in four other states. The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has alerted doctors nationwide that patients with severe, unexplained bleeding may be additional cases. The CDC is helping Illinois authorities investigate the outbreak in that state, which began in early March. Illinois reported seven more cases on Tuesday, bringing the nationwide total to at least 116. Several patients and samples of so-called synthetic marijuana from Illinois have tested positive for a lethal ingredient often used in rat poison, the CDC and Illinois authorities said.
