Jan. 8 (UPI) -- L-3 Technologies has been tasked by the U.S. Navy with manufacturing and supporting the Hawklink AN/SRQ-4 secure communications system. The company will be expected to manufacture, test, deliver, manage and support the common data link, which allows the MH-60R Seahawk helicopter to communicate with Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, Ticonderoga-class cruisers and Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigates. Work on the $ 12.5 million contract, announced Monday by the Department of Defense, will mostly be completed in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Atlanta, Ga., with the rest spread between several locations across the United States and Canada. Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Pinnacle Solutions Inc. was awarded a modification to exercise the fourth year on a previous contract to service KC-10 training systems, the Defense Department announced this week. The contract, announced Monday by the Pentagon, extends Pinnacle's support for a fourth year and brings the value of the previously announced contract to $ 100.5 million. The company, headquartered in Huntsville, Ala., trains KC-10 crew members with full-motion flight simulators, a non-motion simulator and boom operator trainers at Travis AFB, Calif., and McGuire AFB, N.J. Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Boston Ship Repair has been awarded a $ 10.96 million contract for the regular overhaul dry docking of the fleet replenishment oiler USNS Leroy Grumman. The contract, announced Wednesday by the Department of Defense, funds a 60-calendar day regular overhaul of the vessel that will start on March 4, 2019 and is expected to be finished by May 2, 2019. Work on the contract will be done in Boston. The overhaul will include an overhaul of the ship's diesel generator, main engine service, and underwater hull and freeboard preservation, as well as other general services, the Pentagon said. Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Raytheon has been awarded an $ 11.5 million contract for development work on the Millimeter-Wave Digital Arrays program, an effort by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Activity program to enhance military communication security. The contract, announced Monday by the Department of Defense, will see Raytheon focus on digital tile architecture and scalable apertures with transmit and receive components for the MIDAS program. Phased-arrays operating at very high frequency millimeter wave are already being researched as part of the emerging 5G cellular network. Aug. 31 (UPI) -- PAE Government Systems of Arlington, Va., has received a $ 138.5 million modification to a foreign military sales contract for ground vehicle support for Afghanistan. Work on the U.S. Army contract, announced Thursday by the Pentagon, will be performed in HKIA, Afghanistan, with an estimated completion date of August 2022. Army fiscal 2018 procurement funds in the amount of $ 138.5 million were obligated at the time of award.
