Plans to expand the 2022 World Cup to 48 teams have been abandoned by Fifa.Fifa president Gianni Infantino said last year the expansion from 32 teams could be brought forward from 2026 to the 2022 tournament in Qatar. The change would have required Qatar to share hosting duties with other countries in the region. World football's governing body said after a "thorough and comprehensive consultation process" the change "could not be made now".Fifa also said it explored the possibility of Qatar hosting a 48-team tournament on its own but has decided not to pursue those plans as there was not enough time "for a detailed assessment of the potential logistical impact". Pentagon may send teams to find more U.S. remains in North Korea

World
July 27 (UPI) -- As the United States accepted what is presumed to be the remains of 55 U.S. service members killed during the Korean War, Defense Secretary James Mattis said Friday he would consider sending military teams to North Korea to search for the bodies of thousands of U.S. troops believed to be missing there. Mattis told reporters at the Pentagon on Friday the next step in searching for and bringing home the other remains could happen if relations between Pyongyang and Washington improve. "It's certainly something we're interested in exploring with the North Koreans," Mattis said. "We look at it as a first step of a restored process, so we do want to explore additional efforts to bring others home -- perhaps have our own teams go in." Joint U.S. and North Korean efforts to disc...

European Space Agency teams with ICEYE Finnish start-up

Science
The European Space Agency is to work with Finnish start-up ICEYE on ways to exploit its novel radar satellites. ICEYE-X1 was launched in January - the first of multiple spacecraft that will go up in the coming years. About the size of a suitcase, these are the world's smallest synthetic aperture radar satellites and cost a fraction of traditional platforms. The Esa/ICEYE cooperation will focus on technology development and uses for the forthcoming constellation. It will see future satellites - in particular, their radar antenna design - being tested at the agency's technical centre (ESTEC) at Noordwijk, Netherlands. Esa's Earth observation headquarters (ESRIN) at Frascati, Italy, will also assist with calibration and validation of the ICEYE data. The agency is keen to see how radar images ...

Cleveland Browns' trades stunned NFL teams

Sports
From not being able to properly file paperwork to consummate a trade in October to making three trades in a matter of just hours, the Cleveland Browns left many in the NFL with their heads spinning. The same team that has won only one game in two years and flubbed finalizing a trade for Cincinnati quarterback AJ McCarron at the trade deadline pulled off three deals in a matter of a few hours on Friday. According to NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk, Friday's trades "stunned others who had been negotiating potential moves with the Browns." First, Cleveland acquired wide receiver Jarvis Landry from the Miami Dolphins for the relatively cheap price of two mid-round draft picks: one this year and one in 2019. Then, the Browns dealt the 65th pick in this year's draft to the Buffalo Bills for starti...
