Americans, in general, are putting a greater emphasis on savings. For millennials, in particular, it's a way of life. The majority, or 60 percent, of 18-to-36-year-olds who have reeled in their spending, did so in order to save more money, according to a Bankrate.com report released Tuesday. That's in contrast to previous years, when stagnant income was the main reason most Americans felt the need to save. (Over this time frame, the median household notched solid economic gains.)Other top reasons cited to rein it in included worries about the economy, job security as well as debt, according to the survey. Bankrate polled more than 1,000 adults in October. In addition, millennials were more than twice as likely to set a spending cap in order to save more, compared with older generations, Bankr...

Chinese power over North Korea? It's more myth than reality

World
At first glance, it seems the perfect solution to the world's most dangerous standoff: Find a way to get China to use its enormous influence to force North Korea to abandon its nuclear bombs. The countries, after all, share a long, porous border, several millennia of history and deep ideological roots. Tens, and possibly hundreds, of thousands of Chinese soldiers, including Mao Zedong's son, died to save North Korea from obliteration during the Korean War, and China is essentially Pyongyang's economic lifeline, responsible for most of its trade and oil. The notion of Chinese power over the North — that the countries are as "close as lips and teeth," according to a cliche recorded in the 3rd century — is so tantalizing that Donald Trump has spent a good part of his young presidency playing

Romero, Mikel and other players who performed better for country than club

Sports
Most goalkeepers in the world would have to make do with being back-up to David De Gea, and Romero has willingly accepted that role since moving to Manchester United in 2015. Prior to signing for the Red Devils, Romero spent poor spells with Monaco and Sampdoria, playing only 20 games in two years. In total, since the 2013/14 season, Romero has managed just 49 games at club level. For Argentina, however, it is a different story. He has won 51 caps since the start of 2013/14, meaning Romero has made more appearances for his country than his various clubs in the last five seasons!Friday, October 6, 2017Sergio Romero's career has been in a strange position since the summer of 2013, when he joined Monaco on loan from Sampdoria. He played only three times for the Ligue 1 club in 2013/14, and whe...

Analyst: North Korea owns dozens more submarines than South

World
Sept. 27 (UPI) --North Korea retains far more submarines in its fleet than South Korea, and the underwater vehicles could be deadly when mounted with nuclear-tipped submarine-launched ballistic missiles.According to South Korean analyst Park Yong-han, a military expert once affiliated with the Korea Institute for Defense Analysis, North Korea has 80 submarines, while South Korea retains 18.Writing for local newspaper JoongAng Daily, Park said the North Korean submarine that poses the greatest threat is the 2,000-ton Sinpo or Gorae-class sub, which it developed by reverse engineering Russia-made Golf-class submarines. The Sinpo-class vehicles are dangerous because they are capable of carrying SLBMs and are being built "continuously," according to South Korea's defense ministry in 2014.North ...
