The Jacksonville Jaguars need a running back, so they signed veteran Jamaal Charles to a one-year contract, the team announced Tuesday. The Jaguars have been hit hard by injuries at the running back position. Regular starter Leonard Fournette is out indefinitely because of a right hamstring injury. T.J. Yeldon, the No. 2 back, has been playing with an ankle injury. Corey Grant, the No. 3 running back, was placed on injured reserve with a Lisfranc injury in his left foot. The 31-year-old Charles played 14 games for the Denver Broncos last season, but did not start any of them. He ran for 296 yards and also caught 23 passes for 129 yards in 2017, but he was a healthy game-day inactive in the final two games. Aug. 11 (UPI) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed cornerbacks Kenneth Acker and Bryce Canady, while cutting two other cornerbacks. Jacksonville announced the roster moves on Saturday. The Jaguars released fifth-year cornerback Dexter McDougle and waived first-year cornerback Charlie Miller in corresponding moves. Acker, 26, played in all 16 games last season for the Kansas City Chiefs. He totalled 19 tackles and had an interception, a pass defensed and a forced fumble in those appearances. The SMU product had 35 tackles, four passes defensed, an interception and a fumble recovery in 25 appearances in his two seasons with the Chiefs. Feb. 22 (UPI) -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released veteran kicker Nick Folk.Tampa Bay announced the move on Thursday afternoon. Folk, 33, made 6-of-11 kick attempts last season in four games for the Buccaneers. The 11-year veteran also missed two extra point attempts.Folk was a sixth round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys.He was a Pro Bowl selection during his rookie campaign after making 26-of-31 attempts and completing 53-of-53 extra point attempts. Folk joined the New York Jets in 2010, before signing with the Buccaneers last offseason. He led the NFL with 39 field goal attempts in 2014.Folk was cleared to resume kicking two weeks ago after undergoing surgery last season on his left knee.
