Ryanair to cancel 40-50 flights per day for six weeks

Business
Ryanair is to cancel 40 to 50 flights every day for the next six weeks, in a bid to improve punctuality of flights. The budget Irish-based airline announced the plan on Friday, saying that it was "unacceptable" that its punctuality had fallen below 80% in the first half of this month. It also said it had to clear a backlog of staff leave by the end of the year. The move could affect up to 285,000 passengers, who will be offered alternative flights or refunds.Ryanair said that less than 2% of its flights would be cancelled and the move would help it hit its annual punctuality target of 90%.But passengers have complained about the short notice of the cancellations.Ryanair plane makes emergency landing at East Midlands AirportRyanair cuts cabin baggage limit to speed up boardingGary Cummings wa...

Crystal Palace were already considering replacing manager Frank de Boer two weeks before he was eventually sacked.De Boer, 47, met with Palace chairman Steve Parish and sporting director Dougie Freedman on Monday, 28 August. Parish and Freedman left that meeting very underwhelmed and with no confidence that the Dutchman was the right man to turn Palace's fortunes around. They made contact with former England manager Roy Hodgson - the favourite to take over at Selhurst Park - and other potential replacements about their availability that week - but the club's focus turned to player recruitment at the end of the transfer window.De Boer was expected to be sacked before Sunday's trip to Burnley and although that did not materialise and there were signs of encouragement despite Palace's 1-0 defe...

Arizona Cardinals: Rookie T.J. Logan out 12 weeks

Sports
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Arizona Cardinals rookie running back T.J. Logan will undergo surgery to repair a dislocated wrist and will be placed on injured reserve. The fifth-round pick out of North Carolina was injured during Thursday night's Hall of Fame Game against the Dallas Cowboys. He will miss at least 12 weeks. Coach Bruce Arians said the team would like to activate Logan off injured reserve when he is eligible. That would be at or around Week 8 of the regular season. The injury is a big blow to the Cardinals, as Arians said he saw enough in just one exhibition game from Logan to be ready to declare the rookie as his primary kickoff and punt returner. Logan returned two kicks for 71 yards against Dallas, including one he broke for a 43-yard gain. He also returned one punt for 10 yards and...

NASA communications satellite damaged 3 weeks before launch

Technology
NASA's newest, slickest communications satellite has been damaged, just three weeks before its planned August launch.NASA said Monday that one of the antennas on the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite, or TDRS-M (T-driss-M), was damaged last Friday. The accident occurred inside a payload processing building near Cape Canaveral, Florida, as the satellite was being packed for launch. Officials are providing no details. But the mishap could delay what was supposed to be an Aug. 3 liftoff aboard an Atlas V (five) rocket. In a brief statement, NASA says the mission team is assessing the damage and flight schedule. TDRS-M is the third-generation in this satellite series. The orbiting network links ground controllers with the International Space Station, the Hubble Space Telescope and other space...
