Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg once offered Twitter counterpart Jack Dorsey a cold goat he had killed himself for dinner, it has been claimed.
Recalling a bizarre meal between the two social network leaders, Mr Dorsey said that Mr Zuckerberg used some form of laser or stun gun and a knife to kill the animal.
He did not perform the ritual in front of his guest, but – according to the Twitter co-founder – at the time he was committed to going through an entire year only eating what he had killed himself.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Mr Dorsey, 42, said: “He made goat for me for dinner. He killed the goat.
“I guess he kills it. He kills it with a laser gun and then the knife. Then they send it to the butcher.”
When asked to clarify the laser gun, the CEO added: “I don’t know. A stun gun. They stun it, and then he knifed it. Then they send it to a butcher.”
Mr Dorsey, who is worth an estimated $ 4.9bn (£3.8bn), admitted that he did not much fancy the meat and instead only ate the accompanying salad.
But he said it remained a “memorable” encounter and praised Mr Zuckerberg as a “very, very smart businessman”.
The 34-year-old entrepreneur endured a tumultuous 2018 amid concerns over data privacy and the influence Facebook was said to have had on democratic votes, including the EU referendum and US presidential election.
In a bid to start rebuilding his reputation and that of his website, Mr Zuckerberg has pledged to host regular debates throughout 2019.
The public discussions will be held every few weeks to talk about the future of technology with other leaders and experts, although it is unlikely to be considered a fitting response to his failure to attend an international committee hearing on fake news and disinformation at Westminster last year.
