Oct. 24 (UPI) -- The Houston Astros fired assistant general manager Brandon Taubman, the team announced Thursday. In a statement released by the Astros, the organization admitted that Taubman's "inappropriate comments" about the team's acquisition of relief pitcher Roberto Osuna were aimed at a group of female reporters. Sports Illustrated's Stephanie Apstein published a report earlier this week that accused Taubman of yelling, "Thank God we got Osuna! I'm so [expletive] glad we got Osuna!" The comments, directed at a group of female reporters, came during the Astros' celebration after clinching the American League Championship Series on Saturday. July 4 (UPI) -- Brandon Church, the younger brother of country music star Eric Church, has died at the age of 36, his family announced. "It is with great sadness that the Church family confirms that Eric's brother, Brandon, passed away Friday evening," a family statement said Tuesday. "In lieu of flowers please leave a message for the family and/or make a donation to a Scholarship Memorial Fund created in Brandon's memory." Brandon Church's father, Kenneth Church, said his son had a history of seizures and had one at his home in Granite Falls, N.C., Friday, then another as he was being transported to the hospital. Nov. 11 (UPI) -- The Washington Redskins have promoted practice squad defensive lineman Brandon Banks and wide receiver Maurice Harris to the active roster.Washington announced the moves on Saturday. The Redskins also placed defensive lineman Arthur Jones on the reserve/injured list and waived guard Tyler Catalina.Harris turned 25-years-old on Saturday. The 6 foot 3, 200 pound pass catcher had eight catches for 66 yards in 10 games last season for the Redskins.Banks and Harris have been on the practice squad since the beginning of the 2017 season. EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The injury news about the New York Giants' wide receiver corps just kept getting worse Monday night.Brandon Marshall sustained an ankle injury Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, and he will undergo season-ending surgery. Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Super Bowl XLIX winner Brandon Browner was arrested and charged with a felony on Monday in Los Angeles.Browner was arrested by the La Verne Police Department at about 8:29 p.m. He was booked into jail at about 9:40 p.m. He had a total bail about of $ 50,000.A La Verne Police Department spokesperson confirmed that he was charged with suspicion of making criminal threats and later "bonded out" of jail.Browner, 33, was also arrested on May 25 and charged with a misdemeanor.The former Pro Bowl defender played his first three seasons for the Seattle Seahawks before joining the New England Patriots in 2014.
