League sources told ESPN and the Orange County Register that Leonard suffered a left knee contusion in the second half of the Clippers' 102-93 loss to the Houston Rockets on Wednesday. The All-Star forward also missed games against the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday and Atlanta Hawks on Saturday. Leonard has missed five of the Clippers' 14 games this season due to load management related to his knee ailment. Tyronn Lue to join Los Angeles Clippers’ coaching staff

Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue is nearing a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers to join Doc Rivers' staff. League sources told ESPN and the New York Times on Wednesday that Lue is expected to reunite with Rivers as one of his top assistant coaches. Lue was the leading candidate to become the L.A. Lakers' head coach this off-season until negotiations fell apart over contract details. The Lakers opted to hire former Indiana Pacers head coach Frank Vogel to succeed former coach Luke Walton. Lue previously served as the head coach of current Lakers star LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The pair won an NBA championship with the Cavs in 2016 before the team fired him at the beginning of last season following a 0-6 start. In three-plus seasons leading ...

Former Lakers star Kobe Bryant (16) is the only player to have played more. James has scored 338 points on Christmas Day, which is third all-time behind Bryant (395) and Oscar Robertson (377)....

The Los Angeles Lakers won't have their new-look lineup when they take on Los Angeles Clippers for the first time this season. LeBron James is expected to miss his second straight game when the Lakers host the Clippers on Friday night at Staples Center. James sustained a groin injury late in a 127-101 victory against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night. James, who signed with the Lakers in the offseason after four seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, played all 82 regular-season games and all 22 playoff games last season. He hasn't missed back-to-back games since the final two of the 2016-17 regular season. Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball each surpassed his season scoring averages in the first game without James on Thursday night, but the Lakers (20-15) couldn't prote...

Los Angeles Clippers visit Boston Celtics

Former Celtics coach Doc Rivers was in Boston on Sunday for the Paul Pierce retirement ceremony. His visit was not purely ceremonial and also gave him an interesting perspective on the game. "I was more of a coach because we play Boston Wednesday, so I was sitting there as a complete coach and scout," Rivers said Monday, when his Los Angeles Clippers won in Brooklyn. "But it still was really interesting to do that. I may have to do that more. It was really cool. I got a lot out of it, I really did." The Clippers have won four of their last five games and are 4-2 since the mega deal that sent Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons, for a package that included former Celtic Avery Bradley, who makes his second return of the season to the TD Garden.DeAndre Jordan, the big man and center of all k...
