March 23 (UPI) -- Free agent running back Mike Davis has agreed to a two-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons. Sources told NFL Network and ESPN on Tuesday that the parties agreed to the $ 5.5 million pact. The contract includes $ 3 million guaranteed in 2021. Advertisement Davis, 28, had a career-high 642 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 165 carries in 15 games last season while filling in for injured Carolina Panthers starter Christian McCaffrey. Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Atlanta Falcons star defensive lineman Grady Jarrett is partnering with the NFL to send a young Falcons fan who lost three family members in a house fire last month to Super Bowl LV on Sunday. Jarrett surprised the young fan, 12-year-old Taeden Johnson, on a Zoom call with two tickets to this year's championship game in Tampa, Fla. It will be the first NFL game for Johnson, who also received encouraging words from Jarrett during the call. Advertisement Johnson escaped the fire in his family's mobile home in Athens, Ga., on Jan. 27 and ran to a neighbor's home to contact emergency responders. Nov. 6 (UPI) -- A trio of NFL teams announced Friday that players or staff members tested positive for COVID-19, which resulted in altered practices and meetings for the Atlanta Falcons, Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals. The Falcons were the first team Friday to announce positive COVID-19 results. The NFC South franchise said a member of the football staff tested positives. The team decided to halt all in-person work at IBM Performance Field and meet virtually. Advertisement The team said the positive test result does not affect the status of its Week 9 game. The decision to part ways with Quinn and Dimitroff came hours after the Falcons' loss to the Carolina Panthers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Atlanta dropped to 0-5 for the first time since 1997 following the defeat. Dec. 19 (UPI) -- Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan says he isn't surprised how quickly coach Kyle Shanahan's San Francisco 49ers have become one of the best teams in the NFL. Ryan once shared the same sideline as Shanahan, who served as the Falcons' offensive coordinator in 2015 and 2016 before bolting for the Bay Area. They faced off Sunday, with the Falcons pulling off an upset. Shanahan steered the 49ers to an 8-0 start in this year behind a top-five offense and defense.
