March 31 (UPI) -- German health officials restricted the use of AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine to those over the age of 60 due to concerns of rare yet severe cases of blood clots in younger people who had received the shot. Chancellor Angela Merkel and Health Minister Jens Spahn made the announcement during a press conference on Tuesday to halt administering the drug to those under 60 years of age on the recommendations of the country's independent Standing Vaccination Commission. Washington halts football activities due to COVID-19, Oregon game in doubt

Dec. 9 (UPI) -- The University of Washington has paused football team activities due to an increase in positive COVID-19 cases within the program, the school said Wednesday. "The team will not practice Wednesday and will undergo additional polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing," the Huskies said in a statement. Advertisement The Huskies are scheduled to play Oregon at 4 p.m. EST Saturday in Eugene, Ore. The winner of the game will decide which team wins the Pac-12's North Division and appears in the Dec. 18 conference championship game.
