Leslie Jones says Bruno Mars will help her open the 2017 BET Awards

June 24 (UPI) --Saturday Night Live star Leslie Jones announced via Twitter that pop music icon Bruno Mars will help her kick off the festivities at Sunday's BET Awards."I told y'all we would start our wonderful life together, that's why @BrunoMars and I are opening up the 2017 #BETAwards," Jones tweeted Friday.The comedian is hosting the event where Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Big Sean, DJ Khaled, New Edition Future, Migos, Trey Songz and Tamar Braxton are also slated to perform.Handing out prizes at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles will be Yara Shahidi, Cardi B, Issa Rae, Jamie Foxx, La La Anthony, Regina Hall, Tiffany Haddish, Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, Trevor Noah, Robin Thede, Cari Champion and Demetrius Shipp Jr.Beyoncé goes into the competition with a leading seven nominatio...

Mars Orbiter spots rover ascending Mount Sharp

June 21 (UPI) -- In an image captured by NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, the Martian rover Curiosity can been seen as a bright blue speck ascending the rocky terrain of Mount Sharp.The image was taken by the orbiter's High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment camera on June 5 and shared online this week.Curiosity spent the end of last month and early June exploring active sand dunes among the mountain's lower elevations. In the newly released image, the rover can been seen en route to Vera Rubin Ridge.Once at Vera Rubin Ridge, the rover will investigate rock outcrops where the signature of hematite, a type of iron oxide, has been identified by the infrared spectrometers during previous Martian probe missions.On August 5, Curiosity will celebrate the five-year anniversary of its landin...
