The market's win streak is no fluke: A Wall Street bull sees record gains ahead

The market's win streak may be just beginning. Edward Yardeni, who spent decades on Wall Street running investment strategy for firms such as Prudential and Deutsche Bank, predicts stocks will break out to all-time highs this year. He's partly building his bull case based on a chart pointing to negative market sentiment. "At the end of last year the bull-bear ratio, which is something we watch from Investors Intelligence, fell below one," the Yardeni Research president told CNBC's "Trading Nation" on Friday. "It's got an awfully good track record as a...

Business
The S&P 500 share index, which tracks the 500 biggest public companies in America, has hit a new milestone. The benchmark index on Wednesday marked 3,453 days since its prior low-point, set on 9 March 2009, when the world was reeling from the financial crisis.By many counts, that is the longest run without a fall of 20% or more in index history, a "bull" run in market-jargon.Overall the index has risen almost 325% in the period, lifted by companies such as Apple, Microsoft and Amazon. This year, it is up more than 6%, despite worries about rising inflation, interest rates and trade disputes. On Wednesday the index was largely unchanged, closing at 2,861.82, down less than 2 points. That is just shy of the record high of 2,872.8...

Realmuto, Straily help Marlins end losing streak vs. Braves

Sports
May 11 (UPI) -- Miami Marlins catcher J.T. Realmuto was a triple short of the cycle in a 6-3 win against the Atlanta Braves Friday at Marlins Park in Miami, Fla. Realmuto's 3-for-5 effort included a single, double and home run. He had two RBIs and scored twice out of the leadoff spot. He also backed up a strong starting outing by Marlins righty Dan Straily, who earned his first victory of the season. "Every time I gave up a run, we scored sometimes the next pitch," Straily said. It was really nice to go up there and have that kind of run support. Just knowing that I have to keep us right there. Just keep going. The goal is a zero every single inning. You just got to keep going. These guys just kept going tonight. They just kept putting together quality at-bat after quality at-bat." The w...

Victor Oladipo helps Indiana Pacers snap Cleveland Cavaliers' win streak at 13 games

Sports
INDIANAPOLIS -- Victor Oladipo couldn't point to any major reason for his second-half explosion. "I was just going out there being aggressive and trying to make plays," Oladipo said after scoring 25 of his 33 points in the final two quarters to help Indiana Pacers top the Cleveland Cavaliers 106-102, snapping their league-leading 13-game winning streak on Friday night. Oladipo scored 20 in the third quarter as the Pacers turned a six-point halftime deficit into a three-point lead (89-86) after three quarters. The Pacers (15-11) have now won both meetings with Cleveland (18-8), but Oladipo wasn't ready to call it a statement win. "We haven't done anything," Oladipo said. It was just another game that we had to go out there and compete and win. We did a great job playing as a team, working h...
